Experience an authentic Sri Lankan style rice and curry set in the center of a working paddy (rice) field bringing together travelers and locals who have an appetite for exploring flavors. On this epicurean adventure you will sample traditional dishes and learn: how the traditions of a Kingdom are reflected in the myriad of fragrant spices and seasonings, about the utensils still in use after 2000 years and of the preparation of food in hand made clay pots. These thoughtful multi-course meals incorporate vegetables harvested at Maya Tangalle’s organic farm, lake fish and free-range meats sourced locally and traditional breads and old-world rice, the signature crop at our paddy field.
What could be more romantic than a private candlelight dinner under the stars served on a table specially decorated with tropical floral arrangements and candle lights. Your candlelight dinner features a 5 course menu, including a bottle of wine. Only a very limited number of seatings are available each evening at the Manor.
Your adventure for Hopper Night out starts with an evening filled with Sri Lankan music served with piping hot Hoppers prepared by a veteran village hand. You can also try your hand at making some hoppers yourself by swirling the batter in the hot pan and cracking the egg into the center, of course under the guidance of the veteran.
Let our Executive Master Chef take you on a culinary journey of Sri Lanka and teach you the intricacies of local cuisine with a cookery demonstration. Take home to recreate your the flavors of your favorite island.
